The MOON i-3 SE integrated amplifier combines numerous technologies found in Simaudio
MOON preamplifiers and amplifiers.   Offering very high quality sonic performance,
it represents an affordable alternative to the MOON i-5. Features include remote control
operation, a maximum continuous power output rating of 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms
/ 160 watts into 4 ohms, six line-level inputs including a "home theater ready" input and
a preamplifier output.
The SE (Special Edition) version of the MOON Equinox benefits from electronic parts
with higher tolerances in several key areas of the circuit, including an improved toroidal transformer
in the power supply. The result is improved sonic performance.
The SE version of the MOON i-3 is available ONLY in North America

Significant Design Features
An oversized power supply ·
A custom proprietary toroidal transformer design with lower magnetic, electrical and thermal loss,
yielding an improved power transfer and lower regulation factor, resulting in increased current
speed and better dynamics ·
An extremely short capacitor-free signal path measuring 18.5 inches in length from
input RCA's to output binding posts, eliminating virtually all potential sources of
interference and producing a sonically faster transient response ·
Gain section using a Crystal microprocessor functioning as a "shunt to ground" that doesn't
degrade sonic performance regardless of the setting ·
One single-ended audio input which bypasses the gain stage to accomodate a component,
such as home-theatre processor, whose own volume control is used instead ·
Amplifier section using a "no overall feedback" design resulting in real-time amplification,
more accurate musical reproduction with respect to tonality, virtually non-existent
intermodulation distortion and the elimination of common phase errors resulting from feedback ·
"Class A" output power to five watts for greater efficiency ·
Precision-matched Bipolar output devices which offer superb linearity throughout the entire audio
frequency spectrum ·
A symmetrical circuit design ·
Accurate matching of the high quality electronic components ·
Pure copper circuit board tracings with extremely low impedance characteristics ·
Improved reliability through the elimination of moving parts ·
Designed to be powered up at all times for optimal performance ·
Low operating temperature for a longer than normal life expectancy.

Overseas MOON i-3 RS
The RS series of MOON audio components benefit from an even higher standard of manufacturing process
than the regular MOON versions. All significant differences are contained within the circuitry and construction
of each model.
RS versions are built using different materials and parts in certain areas. For example, printed
circuit boards are of a higher temperature grade than that of the military specification FR-4 material
we normally use; Their traces are gold-plated instead of a tin/lead composite. As well, all capacitors
use improved dielectric materials.
MOON RS models meet and/or exceed stricter manufacturing processes as required to pass many
international safety standards such as those imposed by the E-U, Japan and South Korea. Cosmetically, the
ONLY difference is the RS logo on the front panel.
